An Introduction: PROJECT VITAMIN SEA

We have been tasked with creating some sort of interactive for Assessment 2 in Interactive Digital Media. Here you will find a brief overview and set of ideas for an upcoming application named Vitamin Sea: A Marine News Source.

What is the project?

The project will be an interactive app available on iPads. It will be what I am calling a “Marine News Source” where users can come for regular updates on marine news that they would otherwise miss in the media. It will focus primarily on ocean pollution and acidification.

Who will be using it?

People who study marine biology, or aspiring marine biologists. People who are looking for marine news for public or private purposes, such as for a company or business. People who have a general interest in marine life. Generally speaking, a target market aged 18 – 40.

Where will they be using it?

Out and about, like on the train or bus. At home, or in the office. The app will be available for iPads, and therefore usability will be limited to internet connection and if the user has an iPad.

Why will they use it?

They will use my app because they are searching for marine news stories from around the world. They need unlimited access to this information at any given time, and to be able to have this on them at all times.

Ideation Map and Group Feedback

Below is an ideation map showing ideas that could be implemented into my app. Some of these may not be possible, but the ideas are exciting and can be toned down or further expanded on. They have then been discussed with a group of peers, and then been favourited and highlighted.
